My Roadburn 2013 highlights

My Roadburn highlights:

Thursday: Robert Hampson, Magdalena Solis, Maserati, The Psychedelic Warlords.

Friday: Dream Death, Radar Men from the Moon, Sabbath Assembly, Uncle Acid, The Pretty Things, Eternal Tapestry, Electric Wizard, Goat, Psychic TV.

Saturday: Camera, Wo Fat, Teeth of the Sea, Mr. Peter Hayden, My Brother the Wind, The Cosmic Dead, Endless Boogie.

Sunday: Astra, Pallbearer, Michael Rother, Golden Void, Electric Moon.

The Pretty Things was the biggest surprise, since they were really flying! I knew The Psychedelic Warlords would be great but they still totally blew me away from this planet... And so did Eternal Tapestry and The Cosmic Dead. Uncle Acid and Goat: very cool indeed. With the also superb Astra, Radar Men from the Moon and Electric Moon gigs these were probably the only ones I saw completely.

Too much metal for me again, but what can you do. Pallbearer was a great new find: it's cool that not all the new metal/doom/sludge/whatever bands have to be the heaviest and most brutal shit ever. These guys are brave enough to show some tenderness as well. But they are still heavy! ;)

I would also really like to have seen Diagonal, maybe they can make it next year! ;) And the same goes for Hills...

It was lovely to see old friends again, and party with some of them... Thanks!

Dj's Jugh & Astro from the Psychotropic Caravan and Slip Inside This Club fame will be spinning some psychedelic, psychotropic, spacey, hypnotic, groovy and heavy discs at the legendary Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Holland again! The festival will take place on 18.-20.4. plus the Afterburner on 21.4. Some tickets for the Afterburner still available!

The Cosmic Dead - European tour and new releases

This April the astral Glaswegian quartet known as The Cosmic Dead are set to embark on their first voyage overseas, reaching out to new heads and lands unknown on an extended exploratory mission across the European continent. Amongst the highlights of the trip are an appearance alongside Mars Red Sky and My Sleeping Karma at this year's Stone Rising Festival in Oullins, France on the 12th of April, a veritable indoor street party with fellow sonic experimentalists Gnod in Berlin, Germany on the 19th of April and a late night materialisation at this years premier pilgrimage to the riff; Roadburn festival in Tilburg, Holland on Saturday 20th of April.

 

 

The tour will also be a platform for these Scottish psychonauts to introduce a wealth of new material to all ye astronauts out there in the form of three new releases; Inner Sanctum, a massive slab of tweaked out, head-spinning, jammed out recordings set to limited edition cassette tape by Sheffield based label Evil Hoodoo. Live at the Note, a pretty much exactly as it says on the tin live recording from our base of operations and spiritual epicentre The 13th Note in Glasgow, is also to be released on limited cassette tape by Stabbed In The Back Records. Orbiting Salvation, a collation of jams, drones and mythological mantras released by the band in limited edition subtly hand-made CD-R. Alongside the availability of new material comes a reawakening of old in editions of the acclaimed self-titled album and it's postliminary successor The Exalted King on super deluxe gatefold vinyl via Cardinal Fuzz and Cosmic Eye respectfully.
